Corbett "Corb" Howard has over 24 years of HR Generalist experience in small to mid-size manufacturing companies. Since starting his professional career as a teacher/coach, he has worked as a human resource professional for companies throughout the mid-west. Corb has significant hands-on human resource management experience at the divisional level of corporations in structures requiring autonomous, independent, P & L-responsible operations. His HR experience coupled with his teaching & coaching background has given him the skills and expertise to assist companies as a seasoned consultant who can provide solutions to key operational issues: recruiting, outplacement, change-management, employuee benefits, employee relations, labor relations, safety/worker's comp, continuous improvement, performance management and organizational design. In addition, he has proven a record of success in the area of longer term challenges...succession planning, organizational development, leadership training and business planning.
After leaving the education field, Corb spent 10 years with LCN Closers, a division of Ingersoll-Rand Company. During that time Corb worked with The Leadership Center's founder, Bob Ripston, who was Corporate VP of Human Resources for Ingersoll-Rand. While at LCN he was responsible for all the "core" human resource functions. LCN experienced remarkable growth in sales during Corb's tenure with LCN. Corb achieved significant influence through the development, implementation and management of an effective succession planning process. During the period 2001 through 2008 Corb worked for a Toyota Industrial Equipment division, Raymond Industries, in Muscatine, Iowa. As one of four senior managers, Corb was instrumental in providing HR leadership for a division that needed to reinvent itself in order to achieve profitable growth. By utilizing employee training, lean manufacturing, leadership development and right-sizing, Raymond-Muscatine bcame a model of success in the TIEM group of companies. Sales per team member increased dramatically by learning to "do more with less" through cross training, accountability management, improved employee relations, etc. Corb's ability to effectively communicate and interact with production members is the result of implementing people-centered methods that motivate and enhance performance. As in coaching, his asessment and evaluation of the "players" has been a recurrent theme of success during his career.
Corb and his wife live in North Central Illinois where he has been active in the community through his participation as United Way campaign Chair & President, School Board member, Booster Club President and other leadership activities.
